# Regency CEO Interviewed at Nareit's REITweek in NYC

Regency's chairman and CEO, [Hap Stein](https://www.regencycenters.com/employee/9292/Hap-Stein), recently gave a video interview at Nareit’s REITweek: 2018 Investor Conference in New York.

He said that news of distress in the retail sector has obscured the fact that 4,000 new stores opened in 2018, with 1,000 additional openings recorded in 2018 so far.
