Regency's Dunwoody Hall Hosts Local Robotics & Fencing Team Practices

Written by Regency Centers | Sep 15

As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, Regency remains committed to giving back and supporting its communities in unique, impactful ways. Most recently, Regency saw a need in its Dunwoody, GA community, and had the pleasure of providing local Dunwoody High School students with an off-campus practice space for their robotics and fencing teams — which are currently being hosted at Regency’s Dunwoody Hall.

The coaches and students of the DHS fencing and robotics teams want to thank Regency for their great support and guidance in securing a location that will allow voluntary participation in their activities while other alternatives are not available," said Doug McMahon, Head of Dunwoody Robotics Team. "Regency carefully listened to our needs to find a space that would allow the students to pursue their passions for robotics and fencing while simultaneously being able to implement proper COVID-19 protocols. Regency is a true supporter of the community and the students are absolutely thrilled about this opportunity.

The previously vacant 5,500 SF space has created a perfect landing spot for these dedicated students to continue pursuing their hobbies and passions — while socially distanced — in a safe, monitored environment just 1.7 miles away from campus. The space is being thoroughly sanitized after each practice, and coaches are present during all sessions.

It was a pleasure working with the DHS fencing and robotics teams to help accommodate an important need during a difficult time, said Flinn Boston, Property Manager. "I am a strong proponent of extra-curricular activities; they were critical in developing skills and attributes that profoundly contributed to my own personal and professional growth. I'm grateful that Regency has given me the platform to undertake this special project, which I believe will be of great benefit to our friends and neighbors in the community. I look forward to working with the DHS fencing and robotics teams throughout the year.
