Regency’s Indigo Square in Mount Pleasant, SC recently welcomed REI to the shopping center, with a highly anticipated and wildly successful grand opening event to boot. On opening weekend alone, the store welcomed more than 9,500 people, with nearly 120 customers lined up before the doors opened each morning, and 300 Nalgene bottles given out within the first hour.
We couldn't be more thrilled to welcome REI to Indigo Square," said Nate Smith, Vice President, Market Officer. "The Mount Pleasant and Charleston communities showed up in a big way during opening weekend, and we continue to hear nothing but incredible feedback. Regency is honored to have played a part in bringing REI to this market, and we can't wait to see what they do next.
With a belief that "a life outdoors is a life well-lived," REI began as a local outdoor co-op in 1938, and has amassed a community of 20 million lifetime members, nearly 15,000 employees and 168 locations in 39 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to community classes, events, and rentals, their extensive product line includes gear for all seasons, activities, and ages — from camping, hiking, and climbing, to cycling, snow and water sports, and more.
Having REI at Indigo Square makes me a happy camper," said Faith Hershey, Marketing Manager - Dealmaking. "It's been so great to work with the Regency Centers Southeast team on this one. The grand opening really showcased the community's excitement about this exceptional merchant joining a great center in a fantastic location.
