Southpark at Cinco Ranch welcomed Smoosh Cookies to the Katy, TX-based development with a soft opening event August 5 followed by a packed grand opening on August 10. The uniquely delicious ice cream sandwich shop had a line of happy customers out the door, anxiously awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on one of the local, fan-favorite frozen treats.
The origin story of SMOOSH begins in a big teal truck on the streets of Houston, Texas and has since blossomed into the growing franchise it is today. Founder Jay Reyes’ inspiration for the concept came from a combination of his own sweet tooth and his grandmother’s passed-down passion for baking. An innovative entrepreneur with a love for the sweeter things in life, Jay had the idea to compliment his favorite childhood dessert — the simple yet decadent freshly baked chocolate chip cookie — with high quality ice cream and toppings.
The opening marks the concept’s second brick-and-mortar location, with more locations projected to follow. Serving up decadent and colorful ice cream sandwiches, Smoosh is known for its customizable, assembly line style setup, which allows customers to first select their cookie flavor and ice cream flavor, before picking a topping selection to fit every taste and craving. Additional sweet tooth menu favorites include cookies by the dozen (or half-dozen), ice cream floats, sundaes, splits and milkshakes.
