Rise and shine, Bethesda! Tatte Bakery & Café is now open at Regency’s Westbard Square, marking the chain’s second location in the community. The eatery is situated on the shopping center’s ground level, next to the future Piccoli Piatti Pizzeria restaurant.
The new café boasts Tatte’s signature aesthetic, featuring clean, modern design elements. As a unique touch, this location includes a tile accent proudly showcasing the name “Westbard,” adding a local flair to the space.
Tatte (which rhymes with latte) specializes in “elevated comfort food,” offering a selection of house-made bread and pastries, soups, sandwiches, coffee, and more. Its rotating menu celebrates the flavors of the season and currently features items like the Maple Squash & Chicken Salad, Pumpkin Pie with Pecans, and Ginger Date Oat Milk Latte.
The coffee is excellent, the pastries delicious, and the ambiance charming,” said resident Malcolm O'Hagan via a community message board. “This café is a gift to the neighborhood.
Tzurit Or, the creative force behind the brand, is an Israeli pastry chef who got her start by selling her creations at a farmers market. In 2007, she went on to open the first Tatte location in Boston. Today, Tatte Bakery & Café operates more than 40 locations across Greater Boston and the D.C. metro area, including its first regional location at Regency’s The Crossing Clarendon, which opened in 2023.
We’re thrilled to welcome Tatte Bakery & Café to Westbard Square as our first casual dining restaurant,” said Mia Centeno, Senior Property Manager. “Residents have expressed a strong desire for a neighborhood spot to enjoy great food close to home, and Tatte delivers just that. As our second collaboration with them in the area, we’re excited to continue building this partnership and offer meaningful experiences for our community.
Westbard Square is currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment, transforming 22 acres in one of Bethesda’s most affluent communities. Upon completion, the grocery-anchored shopping center will include 148,000 SF of retail and office space, 100 EYA townhomes, 200 apartments, and a 116-unit assisted living facility. Phase two of the redevelopment will introduce a new county park with a playground, as well as a central green designed to host community events.
