[Whole Foods](http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/) on Voss opened its doors **yesterday morning**, leaving you with no excuse for not grabbing milk on your way home. The development team was on hand at the grand opening: Arch-Con’s **Ricardo Merino**; Regency Centers’ **Daniel Hoerster**, **Erik Tompkins** and **Matt Booth**; Arch-Con’s **Marc MacConnell**; and Regency’s **Patrick Krejs** and **Jon Beer**. Marc tells us building the **47k SF** facility was challenging—it was a ground-up process within the confines of a bustling, fully operating retail center ([Regency’s](http://www.regencycenters.com/retail-space/tx/houston/woodway-collection#.VSwP0EZ0CQk)**Woodway Collection**). The team also redid the old parking lot, including replacing all the lights with [**LEDs**](http://www.regencycenters.com/company_information/sustainability.php#.VSwYkEZ0CQk). (The energy conservation measure is becoming common in the retail market.)

Whole Foods is a **replacement** for two grocers—a Randall’s was demolished to make room, and this new store replaces an existing Whole Foods at 6401 Woodway. (Besides being newer, it’s **twice the size**.) Whole Foods’ adjoining 4k SF of retail is **fully leased**—Langford Market and Lilly Rain will take occupancy soon. The new store includes an outdoor beer garden and music area.
