The Pruneyard Sees Regional Draw for 'Thrill The World' Flash Mob

Last week, Campbell, CA residents gathered in their spookiest “Thriller”-inspired Halloween garb at The Pruneyard’s Main Plaza with one goal: to Thrill The World. Since October 2006, festive folks from around the globe have been congregating at local venues like The Pruneyard on the Friday before Halloween to celebrate the annual flash-mob style dance movement. The event was inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” the all-time, best-selling record known for its eerie sound bites, legendary music video and viral dance moves.

Organized by Adira Dance and Costume — a local shop offering apparel and accessories for dance styles ranging from ballet to belly dancing and raves — the celebration included residents traveling the streets of downtown on foot from business-to-business, dancing in unison to “Thriller” choreography that they either practiced together or learned from the official Thrill The World YouTube video. Community members gathered for the highly-anticipated annual spectacle, reserving outdoor patio tables and lining the streets to catch a good glimpse of the action.
