Juju opened in late 2014 as apart of Regency Centers' new development Shops at Erwin Mill located in Durham, North Carolina. Juju is the exciting sister restaurant to Chapel Hill’s acclaimed Jujube, launched by local restaurateurs Julian Benfey and Charlie Deal, the award-winning chef behind Jujube and Durham’s Dos Perros. Since opening, Juju made the list of top 100 hottest tables on Opentable for 2015 and labeled by The Wall Street Journal as a "vital Hipster Asian Mash-up restaurant" in the Raleigh-Durham area (see article excerpt below.) Regency's Chairman and CEO, Hap Stein, recently visited Juju where he shares in his experience:
“I had the opportunity to enjoy Juju during a trip to our Shops at Erwin Mill. The Asian fusion tapas restaurant was truly a fun and memorable dining experience, from the contemporary design and high-energy atmosphere to the delicious food. This exceptional restaurant is a great addition to our shopping center. We applaud owners Julian Benfey and Charlie Deal on receiving this well-deserved recognition from The Wall Street Journal.”- Hap Stein, Chairman and CEO of Regency Centers.

Whereas once the national conversation around dining centered on culinary capitals like New York and San Francisco, now cities of all sizes are on the table. To back up that claim, we went looking for six of the most vital contemporary restaurant genres in six markets of varying size, none of which are well known for their dining scenes—yet. What we found was very good eating.
