Construction is well underway at Regency Centers' Village at La Floresta and excitement continues to build throughout the community. Last week, The Orange County Register identified the development as East Brea's soon to be "hotspot." In the article, Regency's John Mehigan, VP of Investments, talks about the focus on experience, food and the "cool" factor that will be brought to the market.
Amplifying the coolness factor, the article presents a handful of unique tenants coming to the Village at La Floresta.
Three restaurants are lined up, including fast-casual farm-to-table eatery Urban Plates, and a seafood-food-truck-turned-sit-down-restaurant, Slapfish – both already with O.C. locations. Barbershop Floyds 99 signed on along with coffee shop Early Bird Coffee Roasters.
Well-known restauranteur David Wilhem signed on, too, planning to open his Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern at the center. He has others in Dana Point and San Diego. Wilhelm, known for owning former French 75 and Sorrento Grille in Laguna Beach, has owned or operated 16 restaurants – this will be his first in North Orange County. “There’s lots of disposable income in the area, and they (residents) want to have something in their backyard that can be their local hangout,” Wilhelm said. “I think it’s long overdue.”
Upon completion, Village at La Floresta will house the largest art installation in Brea, a $2.5 million sculpture by artist Doug Hollis. The center will also include a water feature and lush landscaping with native plants. Pedestrian-friendly sidewalks and pathways will thread through the different retail storefronts, allowing for a relaxed and easily accessible atmosphere.
