The Market at Springwoods Village Gives Back 300+ Trees For Houston

Last Saturday, The Market at Springwoods Village teamed up with Trees For Houston to give back in a big way: by providing residents with their pick of more than 300 free 5-gallon trees on a first-come, first-served basis. The family-friendly tree planting season celebration and giveaway included live music, food and beverage sampling with earth-conscious activities – ultimately inspired by the community damage that Hurricane Harvey left Houston with in 2017. The event took place in the courtyard between Mod Pizza and B. Good. from 10AM to 2PM.

The Market at Springwoods Village — located in a master-planned community recognized as a sustainability model in the Houston community — is LEED Certified, with sustainably-focused efforts including the reserving of the area’s natural ecosystems, building new energy-smart homes, and reducing dependence on cars by providing a walkable mix of retail shops, restaurants, office facilities and public amenities. In addition to doing what’s right for the community, being a low-impact development has created interest from retailers who also prioritize sustainability.

"Partnering with Trees For Houston and giving away hundreds of free trees, to mitigate the impact of recent floods, aligns nicely with our vision of being environmentally conscious developers. We wanted The Market to be the venue for this year’s giveaway so we could create an event for the recipients and our customers to celebrate giving back to mother nature. We hope to build upon the success of this event in the future.
