Kohl's shoppers have responded so well to store pickup for online orders that the retailer is rolling out the service to all 1,164 of its stores in the United States.

The service allows shoppers to pick-up in store sometimes within hours of placing an order online.

The retailer piloted the service at more than 100 Kohl’s stores in 2014. While the service is currently available for customers shopping from their desktops or laptops via the product page on Kohls.com, it will be rolled out to tablets and mobile phones later this year.

“At Kohl’s, we are committed to putting our customers first, and we know our customers and their families expect an easy shopping experience, regardless of how they choose to shop,” said Krista Berry, Kohl’s executive VP, chief digital officer. “With the rollout of Buy Online, Pick Up In Store to all Kohl’s stores, not only are we are providing our customers greater access to the amazing products they know and love from Kohl’s, shoppers are able to get their items even faster than ever before in the way that’s most convenient for them.”

When customers are shopping online, they will have the option to see if a specific item is available at their local Kohl’s store. When they select the “Pick Up In Store” option, they complete the purchase through the website and receive two email messages – the first confirming the purchase and the second indicating when the item is available for pick up in store.

Upon arrival at the store, customers can park in a designated “Pick Up In Store” parking spot and will find their items waiting for them at the customer service desk (for non-jewelry merchandise) or fine jewelry counter.
