Saks Fifth Avenue To Open First Freestanding Shoe Store Fall Of 2016

Saks Fifth Avenue has unveiled plans to up the shoe ante across the luxury department store circuit. The high end department store announced plans to open a freestanding shoe store in Greenwich, Conn., on East Elm St.

According to WWD, The famous 10022-Shoe department at the Sak's Manhattan flagship store, which has since been reproduced in 19 other Saks store locations, is expected to open its own gilded doors in the fall of 2016. The 14,000-square-foot space in Greenwich is right around the corner from an existing Saks Fifth Avenue store that carries women's apparel, accessories and beauty exclusively.

The new shoe store location will include 11,000-square-feet for selling and 3,000-square-feet for storage. The store itself has yet to be named, but it promises to provide a unique marketing spin (The 10022-Shoe department in the Manhattan flagship store was named for the department's very own zip code).
