The Most Loved Grocers in America

The results are in: America’s favorite grocery retailers have been confirmed by more than 12,000 shoppers in a recent Market Force study. Many on the list can attribute their success to how responsive they have been to changing consumer demands. Offering home delivery services, superior customer experiences, speedy checkouts, and quality groceries, the following stores have risen to the top in 2017:  

Publix and Wegmans tie for first at 77%, with Trader Joe’s Market trailing by only one percentage point. With the exception of ALDI ranking highest in value, Publix, Wegmans, and Trader Joe’s shared the top spots in all categories. Here are some other important takeaways from this study:

Trader Joe’s beat out the competition in cashier courtesy with 82% and trailed Publix in store cleanliness by a mere 2 percentage points. Twitter @TraderJoesList

Other grocery stores favored by most shoppers include the following:

• H-E-B, with 69%, is noted for the jump from last year’s 7th place to this year’s 3rd place. Facebook: HEB, Twitter @heb
• ALDI, with 68%, received its best ratings for value and fast checkouts, although WinCo Foods and Costco followed close behind in value as well, both with 83%. Facebook: aldiusa, Twitter @AldiUSA.
• Harris Teeter, with 66%, fared among the leaders in all categories except value for money. Facebook: harristeeter, Twitter @HarrisTeeter
• Hy-Vee Food Stores, with 65%, received its highest ranking by attribute, 56%, in specialty department service.  Facebook: HyVee, Twitter @hyvee
• Costco, with 65%, is recognized for its value, as reflected by 83% of respondents. In store cleanliness, also, Costco fared well with 68%. Twitter @costco
• WinCo Foods, with 62%, is another store that gave the top three a solid run, ranking 2nd only to ALDI in value for money. Facebook: winco.official.page

Not much further down the list, rated favorite by at least 50% of shoppers are Kroger, Target, Winn-Dixie, ShopRite, and Food Lion.
