Starbucks wants to add some caffeine to your commute.

Starbucks on Wednesday announced Lyft as the newest member of its growing loyalty program.

Customers that use the ride-hailing service will be able to earn credit in the My Starbucks Rewards program that the coffee chain has been bolstering through partnerships with other companies. The Lyft partnership will officially launch later this year.

The arrangement will also have possible benefits for Lyft and Starbucks employees. Lyft riders will be able to gift Starbucks drinks to drivers that they wish to reward. Lyft drivers will also be able to become "gold status members" in the Starbucks rewards program.

Starbucks employees could also benefit from the deal. The two companies will be testing a program that provides Starbucks employees with rides to and from work.

"Lyft and Starbucks share a lot of the same customers and importantly we share a commitment to doing right by our customers and our people," said John Zimmer, co-founder of Lyft.

The deal also opens the door to an expansion of delivery, an area that Starbucks has just begun to explore. Starbucks announced in October that it would begin to offer delivery in 2015 through its app in some areas of the U.S.
