At Regency’s Briarcliff Village, Scraplanta isn’t just another place to shop. This creative reuse center merges thrift shopping with art supplies, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for crafters. With a mission to help reduce waste and promote sustainability, they take items that would usually end up in the landfill — fabric scraps, pieces of tile, paper, paints — and give them a second life.
Since opening in 2022, Scraplanta has quickly become a resource for local artists, students, teachers, and families. In the last two years, they’ve kept more than 100,000 pounds of art materials from going to waste, putting them in the hands of those who may not have otherwise had access to them.

Over the past three months alone, they’ve averaged 70 sales transactions per day from Thursday to Sunday — excluding those who simply drop by to donate materials. Factoring in those visitors, daily transactions reach an estimated 80 to 90, a substantial increase from the 20 to 30 daily transactions they saw when they first opened. And with interest steadily rising, Scraplanta’s impact on the community only continues to grow.
In fact, Scraplanta has been so successful at Briarcliff Village that it has already expanded with a second location in Adair Park. Its low price point allows people of all ages, experiences, and income levels to try their hand at creating something new. Shoppers can pick up materials for as little as ten cents.
Beyond offering affordable supplies, they regularly host workshops, art classes, and community events where people can learn new skills and connect with others. These workshops cover everything from upcycling basics to more advanced crafting techniques, making it a perfect spot for people who are curious about reducing waste and creating art at the same time.

This partnership exemplifies Regency’s broader commitment to supporting nonprofits by creatively utilizing spaces that may not be ideal for traditional retailers — such as those without windows or located on the backside of a shopping center — to help nonprofits like Scraplanta.
We’re proud to help Scraplanta further their mission of making the arts accessible to everyone in the community,” said Leslie Mintz, Senior Leasing Agent. “Whether you’re picking up a new hobby or you’re a seasoned artist, Scraplanta offers affordable supplies and a welcoming space to get creative. It’s a place where art feels within reach for all.
