Regency's Jacksonville Team Delivers 108 Meals to Families in Need

With continued efforts across the country to uplift the community through giving and philanthropy, the Regency Centers Jacksonville team recently joined forces with Burrito Gallery at Regency’s Brooklyn Station on Riverside shopping center. Regency volunteers delivered 108 warm meals to those in need by way of Aging True Community Seniors Services: Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP).

The voluntary RAPP program is open to grandparents and relative caregivers over the age of 54. It was designed to assist caregivers as they care for children under the age of 18. Aging True provides educational training, monthly support groups and transportation. The nonprofit also provides long-term goal planning, resourceful bi-monthly newsletters, plus yearly stipends for children's summer camps.

Delivered by 31 Regency team members to families across Duval and Clay County, the meals consisted of Burrito Gallery's chicken burrito and coleslaw, plus chips and homemade salsa. Burrito Gallery, a beloved Jacksonville staple with three area locations, serves flavorful 'Jax Mex' Mexican fare and drinks in an eclectic, laid back, art-filled setting.

Thank you so much to Regency Centers and Burrito Gallery for providing lunch to our RAPP families," said Keri Barnhardt, Development Manager at Aging True. "Regency didn't just make a contribution of more than 100 meals — they also organized a special delivery. We have received a number of messages from the families expressing how delicious it was, and how wonderful it was to have a good meal they didn't need to cook themselves. Thank you Regency Centers and Burrito Gallery at Brooklyn Station!

One of the best parts about helping the local community is that it makes us feel good as well,” said JP Morgan, Burrito Gallery general manager. “Please know that Burrito Gallery is smiling when we say it was our pleasure to be part of service to Aging True and Regency Centers.

Aging True's Jacinda Legons, Community Liaison, added that many of the program's grandparents expressed their heartfelt thanks about the meals. "Many stated that the meal was delicious, and that feeding the entire family truly made their day," Legons said. "A few grandparents tried to reach out directly to the delivery drivers as they wanted the vendor to know how appreciative they were."
