New Merchants at San Diego Shopping Centers Offer Good Eats and Pet Treats

With an exciting lineup of new merchants, Regency’s San Diego shopping centers have a little something for everyone — from a weekend brunch with the girls to the perfect treat for your furry best friend.

Serving daily brunch, Madi will open its second location at Regency’s The Hub Hillcrest Market in late 2024. The restaurant will take over a 4,209 SF space previously occupied by Panera Bread.

Madi’s flagship location in Normal Heights boasts wait times of more than two hours on weekends — and for good reason. The restaurant was named “Best New Brunch” by Modern Luxury San Diego for putting a unique Mediterranean spin on fresh California cuisine. Its all-day brunch menu features dishes like the Mediterranean Breakfast, Surfer Breakfast Burrito, and Blackberry & Goat Cheese Pancakes, a crowd-favorite that follows a 60-year-old family recipe.

Guests can enjoy a selection of mimosas, natural wines, low-ABV cocktails, and mocktails. Plus, those who are short on time can easily stop at the grab-and-go counter for a coffee, pastry, or freshly pressed juice.

Parker-Rosen_HeadshotThis is what merchandising is all about — it’s the name of the game,” said Parker Rosen, Leasing Representative. “We’re very stoked to take a spot formerly occupied by a merchant as large and well-known as Panera, and replace it with the ‘Best New Brunch in San Diego.’ We anticipate Madi to be a massive value-add to The Hub Hillcrest Market.

Kahoots (4S Commons Town Center)

Pets (and their owners) can expect nothing but the best at Kahoots, a pet supply store now open at Regency’s 4S Commons Town Center. This marks the relocation of Kahoots Rancho Bernardo, the company’s first-ever pet-specific storefront, two miles from its original location of 20 years.

By moving to 4S Commons, Kahoots can better serve the community by providing customers with an improved shopping experience. The 6,080 SF space features a more accessible parking lot, brighter storefront, and more convenient layout, as well as a refreshed selection of products.

Voted “Best Pet Store in San Diego” in the San Diego Reader’s Best of 2022 list, Kahoots operates more like a boutique market than a big-box corporation — despite having more than 20 locations throughout Southern California. The pet-friendly atmosphere gives owners the opportunity to shop for natural pet food and premium products with their fur babies in tow. Most locations — including 4S Commons — also offer vaccinations and teeth cleanings.

I’ve been with Kahoots for more than seven years and we have the friendliest, most knowledgeable staff, and an incredible variety of wholesome products,” said Janna Dalton, 4S Ranch Kahoots Manager. “We get to know our customers by name, watch their kids and pets grow up, and go home happy knowing that we only offer the highest quality supplies without any artificial by-products or fillers.

The 4S Commons location also partners with the Helen Woodward Animal Center, Animal Rescue Resource Foundation, and Foundation for the Care of Indigent Animals, three local nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping animals in need.

Mendocino Farms (4S Commons Town Center)

Since opening its doors in 2003, Mendocino Farms has been inviting guests to “Eat Happy” with fresh ingredients and unexpected flavor combinations. Now, the fast-growing restaurant chain has expanded to more than 50 locations across California, Texas, and Washington — with one of its newest at Regency’s 4S Commons Town Center. This latest opening marks the seventh Mendocino Farms in the San Diego area.

Their globally inspired menu features a unique selection of sandwiches and salads, including the Mediterranean Crunch Salad, Sweet Heat Crispy Thai Chicken Sandwich, and Peruvian Steak Sandwich.

To elevate the dining experience, Regency implemented placemaking efforts to enhance an outdoor area where guests can enjoy beer and wine in the San Diego sunshine. The fenced green space includes table seating, play structures, turf, trees, and flowers.

The Hub Hillcrest Market is a 149,221 SF property situated in one of San Diego’s most populated neighborhoods, and is just one mile from I-8 and two miles from I-5. The shopping center features a merchant lineup that includes Trader Joe’s, Barry’s Bootcamp, and Wells Fargo Bank.

4S Commons Town Center is the dominant shopping center in 4S Ranch, an affluent, master-planned community conveniently located along the I-15 corridor in North San Diego County. The 252,058 SF property features a lineup of high-performing anchors such as Ralphs, Jimbo’s, CVS, and World Market.
